Bruce holds degrees in Kinesiology (2001) and Physiotherapy (2004) from the University of Saskatchewan, both with Great Distinction. As part of his training in Kinesiology, he was able to study for one year at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, at the School of Human Movement. During his university years, he was able to develop his skills as a personal trainer, and is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Throughout his life, Bruce has been active in a wide variety of sports including hockey, basketball, indoor and beach volleyball, tennis, and golf, as well as cycling, running and strength training.

Bruce has over 13 years experience in orthopedic physiotherapy, sport rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. He has worked in Edmonton, Alberta for 5 years at a sports medicine clinic collaborating with orthopedic surgeons and physicians, including former Edmonton Oiler defenceman, Dr. Randy Gregg. Following this, his career brought him to Ottawa where he was able to continue to follow his passion of combining movement training with physiotherapy techniques. Bruce enjoys treating a wide variety of clientele including young athletes, weekend warriors, desk jockeys, and elite athletes.

Bruce has a special interest in preventing and treating knee injuries after suffering two ACL tears while in university. He also has training and experience in running technique analysis and running injury prevention. Other post-graduate education includes Level 3 manual therapy certification and many advanced courses on exercise therapy for muscle imbalance. He has more recently become certified through the Shift Concussion Management program and is excited to provide advanced concussion care and rehabilitation to local athletes and sports teams.

Bruce’s treatment is focused on not only eliminating the pain, but addressing what caused the pain or injury in the first place. His primary treatment strategies include manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue and joint mobilization, corrective exercise to restore muscle balance, and functional strength training to reinforce and prevent the injury from recurring. Bruce’s goals for his clients are to learn exercise and lifestyle strategies to reduce pain naturally, and to end up stronger and healthier than before the injury!

Bruce moved to Barrie and joined Concept of Movement in 2013, and has been enjoying the beaches and outdoor lifestyle with his wife and young twin children.
